Location

Baie-Comeau is a town located in Quebec, in the Côte-Nord area. The site is located about 700 km from downtown Montreal. The teaching site is part of the Centre intégré de santé et des services sociaux de la Côte-Nord.

  • Internal Medicine consultations: in and outpatient
  • Pacemaker clinics
  • Intensive care unit consultations
  • Exercise stress testing
  • Echocardiograms
  • Sleep studies

Type of Lodging


Lodging is provided by the establishment and is located 15 minutes away (walking distance) from the hospital.

Trainees are lodged in aÌý"Shared Apartment". Trainees have a private room and share common gender-neutral areas (bathroom, kitchen, living room).

Lodging is available as of the evening before the first day of your rotation.

Trainees are expected at the Hospital at 8:30am on the first day of their rotation.

â–ºÌýNote: It is important that everyone does their share to keep all common areas clean and safe at any time.

Transportation

Inner harbor of Baie Comeau with many anchored sail boats.


Trainees travel to Baie-Comeau mainly by bus or car. There is also a possibility to travel by air with Air Canada. However, please note that the funding received for travel usually does not cover the full cost of the plane ticket.

Each trainee receives a stipend to help pay for transportation costs.

Trainees must make their own travel arrangements.

NOTE: For all students making their own arrangements. All students will be required to attend a mandatory Progress Test at the end of each block.

PLEASE do not make any travel arrangements before confirming the exact date of your test.

Traveling by bus

serves Baie-Comeau. From Montreal, departure is from the bus station, Gare d’autocar de Montréal, located at the Berri-UQAM métro station. There is one departure per day.Ìý Duration of the bus ride is approximately 10 hours. If you , in order to get it, you will need to go to one of the self-service ticketing kiosks in Gare d'autocars de Montréal.


Traveling by plane

Another option would be to travel via to Baie-Comeau, followed by a taxi ride to the hospital. Should trainees choose this option, please note that each trainee receives a fixed amount (see allocation table) for transportation whether travelling by air, bus or car. Please contact the site coordinator to learn more information about this option.
