Max Bell

Head shot of Max Bell“Max Bell was above all things a builder, and an imaginative and successful one, with vision that went far beyond his own private interest and encompassed many good causes which he felt would help Canada.” - Lester B. Pearson, former Prime Minister of Canada

Max Bell was a Canadian visionary and business leader most recognized for his contributions as a newspaper publisher, entrepreneurial oilman, passionate rancher, racehorse owner, and generous humanitarian and philanthropist.

He graduated from 㽶Ƶ with a degree in Commerce in 1932, but his education didn’t end there. Bell was a lifelong learner, investing his time, energy and resources into projects that he cared about and would benefit others.

Max Bell’s legacy lives on in the Max Bell Foundation and its investment in the development of forward-looking innovations that impact public policies, with an emphasis on health and wellness, education and the environment.

㽶Ƶ has long been a beneficiary of Max Bell’s generosity and vision. We are proud to honour him by turning the Foundation’s substantial gift into a policy school that would have met Max Bell’s high standards, making significant and lasting contributions to today’s most pressing policy issues.
