2024 Science Undergraduate Research Awards (SURA)

Science Undergraduate Research Awards - SURAs - are for both Canadian and international McGill students registered in a science undergraduate program. First offered in Summer 2007, SURAs are made possible by funding from the Dean of Science and participating research supervisors.SURAs are broadly similar to theÌýNSERC USRA; two differences are, on the student side, thatÌýinternational students may apply,Ìýand on the supervisor side, that they must hold a research grant from CRC, NSERC, CIHR, SSHRC, FQRNT, or FRSQ (it is not restricted to NSERC grant holders).

Every application must include a scenario for a remotely-supervised project that the student can start and finish remotely.

Value for 2024: $8700 minimum (source: donor and/or Faculty of Science, $5000; supervisor, minimum $3700);

15 weeks of full-time research.

Awarded on basis of academic merit, in accordance with departmental selection procedures.

Open to both Canadian and international students from McGill.

TheÌýdeadlineÌýfor studentÌýto submit finalÌýSURA dossiers to theÌýMathematics and StatisticsÌýDepartmentÌýis Friday February 23, 2024 before 4:30 pm.
