Healthy Brains, Healthy LivesÌý() is a program, built on McGill's global leadership inÌýinterdisciplinaryÌýneuroscience, thatÌýuses big data analysis to reveal the fundamental mechanisms underlying normal brain function and brain disorders. HBHL aims to accelerate translational discoveries and create a globalÌýcentreÌýof excellence inÌýneuroinformaticsÌýand computational neuroscience at McGill, and to improve brain health in Canada and around the world.ÌýÌýÌýÌý
HBHL's central vision is to reduce the human and socio-economic burden of psychiatric and neurological illnesses and improve the mental health, quality of life and productivity of Canadians and people around the world for generations to come.ÌýÌý
HBHL’sÌýstrategic research priorities areÌýanchoredÌýaroundÌýfour research themes:ÌýÌýÌý
- Theme 1: Neuroinformatics and Computational Modelling;
- Theme 2: Mechanistic Models of Neurodegenerative Disorders;
- Theme 3: Applied Cognitive Neuroscience of Brain Plasticity;
- Theme 4: Population Neuroscience and Brain Health.Ìý
HBHL was made possible through support from theÌýCanada First Research Excellence FundÌý(), Quebec’sÌýMinistère de l'Économie et de l'InnovationÌý(), and the Fonds de recherche du Québec (,ÌýÌýandÌý), as well as initial funding from theÌýLudmerÌýCentre.ÌýÌý
