The Octagon Room in the Islamic Studies Library will be undergoing intermittent renovations over the next six months and will be closed during those periods. We will let the McGill community know each time.

Victoria Dickenson awarded The Society for the History of Natural History President's Medal for work on the Gwillim Project
The Society for the History of Natural History (SHNH) is delighted to award the SHNH President鈥檚 Award 2023 to聽Victoria Dickenson for her work on the Gwillim Project: Women, Environment, and Networks of Knowledge and Exchange in Early Nineteenth Century Madras.聽The Award recognizes an individual or team鈥檚 contribution and impact in promoting and improving accessibility, inclusivity, and diversity to the study of the history of natural history.
Exam period access to Nahum Gelber Law Library for Winter 2023
As of April 1, McGill students are able to access the Nahum Gelber Law Library 24 hours a day, seven days a week. As agreed between the Students' Society of 香蕉视频 (SSMU) and the Law Students Association (LSA), the Nahum Gelber Law Library will limit access to the three upper floors of the library to Law students only during the April 14 to 28 examination period. Details are as follows:

Macdonald Campus Seed Library now open!
On Monday, March 20聽the Macdonald Campus Library will be opening up the Seed Library for online orders. The seed catalogue will be made available to McGill students, faculty, and staff on opening day. Please note that there is a limit of 25 seed packets per borrower.

We are currently experiencing an issue when accessing ProQuest Central links within Discovery (Sofia catalogue). The links are resolving to an error message that reads:

The technical issue we were experiencing with聽DeGruyter has been resolved. Thank you for your patience.
The Library is experiencing a technical issue with DeGruyter where access to all links is being blocked, and instead we are seeing an 鈥淯nspecified server error鈥� message.
We are currently working with DeGruyter to restore access and apologize for any inconvenience.
Open Access Agreement | Canadian Science Publishing
The Library is pleased to announce that McGill corresponding authors publishing with five Canadian Science Publishing journals now have the option to make their articles聽open access at no cost.

Library Guides: A new way to curate resources in myCourses
Instructors can now help students connect to research and information resources by adding the Library Guides tool to myCourses. This dynamic tool can be inserted into myCourses in two ways, either directly in the course module and accessible via the left-side menu, or in the course鈥檚 top-level menu. Each course can be connected to pre-assigned subject guides that will populate automatically, or to one or more niche guides curated by the relevant subject librarian.

Starting January 15, 2023, McGill-affiliated corresponding authors will have the聽option to make their work open access for no cost in Wiley鈥檚聽hybrid journals.聽Review the聽list of eligible titles聽(XLS will download).

As of Thursday, December 1, McGill students are able to access the Nahum Gelber Law Library 24 hours a day, seven days a week. As agreed between the Students' Society of 香蕉视频 (SSMU) and the Law Students Association (LSA), the Nahum Gelber Law Library will limit access to the three upper floors of the library to Law students only during the December 7 to 21 examination period.
