Call for candidates: 2020-2021 Wainwright Fellowships

Wainwright Fellowships are intended to to promote research in civil law at the Faculty of Law of Ï㽶ÊÓƵ. In addition to the classical civil law concepts such as contractual or extra-contractual obligations, the civil law is understood here in a broad sense and includes, in particular, commercial law, the labour law, maritime law, private judicial law, private international law and the law of the sea, comparative law, so long as the civil law is a substantial element of it.

Wainwright Fellows take up residence at McGill, contribute to the intellectual life of the Faculty of Law, and participate in the teaching future jurists.

The Wainwright fund invites candidates to submit an application for either the Junior Fellowship in Civil Law or the Senior Fellowship in Civil Law, as appropriate. Deadline to apply is 23 March 2020.

The Wainwright Fund was established under the terms of the will of the late Arnold Wainwright, QC (1879-1967), BA 1899, BCL 1902, DCL 1963. Arnold Wainwright taught Civil law at Ï㽶ÊÓƵ from 1909 to 1934. He bequeathed his estate to the Faculty of Law in order to promote the scholarly study of the Civil Law of Quebec, which was his abiding interest throughout his long and distinguished career.
