Intern Hiring Process

Students are required to apply for and secure their own internships. The Internship Administrator in the Internships & Student Affairs Office provides tools, service referral, coaching and placement leads for students to pursue.

Suggested intern hiring process for Employers/Site Supervisors:

  1. Students apply to posted position according to procedure outlined in “Student Hiring/Selection Process” in the .
  2. Employers review and screen applications.
  3. Employers interview candidates virtually, in their office or at McGill (upon request).
  4. Employers extend offers to student and students are encouraged to accept the first offer presented.
  5. If student accepts, student must complete and submit an to the ISA Office.
  6. Once Proposal Form is approved by Internship Administrator, student and Site Supervisor read, complete and sign the Internship Agreement & Learning Plan. Signed document is then emailed to Internship Administrator for a final signature at least 2 weeks prior to internship start date.
