Aparna Nadig

 Dr. Aparna Nadig grew up in the United States as the daughter of South Asian immigrants, and immigrated to Tiohtià:ke/Montréal for a faculty   position at Ï㽶ÊÓƵ. After becoming a Canadian citizen, realizing she knew nearly nothing about Indigenous peoples of now-called Canada,   she committed herself to learning about Indigenous history and current perspectives. She has been a faculty member in McGill’s School of   Communication Sciences and Disorders for over 15 years, where she gained experience in Health Professions training program admissions processes   as Chair of Ï㽶ÊÓƵ for the clinical master’s program in Speech Language Pathology.

Ìý±á±ð°ù studies language development, social communication and social cognition through an intersectional lens, focusing on people on the   autism spectrum as well as neurotypicals, and on bilinguals/minority language speakers. She is passionate about opening doors to increase diversity,   equity and inclusion in academic institutions.

Working with IHPP team, led by Indigenous priorities, she honored to contribute toward the critical goals of training more Indigenous health professionals in a safe and supportive environment, as well as educating current faculty and staff and future health professionals about the health needs of Indigenous peoples.
