In celebration of the 50^th anniversary of McGill’s Institute of Health Sciences Education (IHSE, formerly the Centre for Medical Education), we invite you to participate in the Richard and Sylvia Cruess Symposium on Scholarship in Health Sciences Education. This event will be held on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, from 8:00 am to 5:30 pm.

We will welcome as our guests well-known education scholars, including Kevin Eva, PhD, Associate Director and Scientist in the Centre for Health Education Scholarship, and Professor and Director of Educational Research and Scholarship in the Department of Medicine, at the University of British Columbia.

In addition, the IHSE will showcase research and innovation in Health Sciences Education from faculty members and students in the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at McGill and beyond. We are seeking abstracts in any area of health sciences education research or innovation. We encourage you to join us in discussing emerging educational trends and innovations as well as cross cutting, interdisciplinary education research, and scholarship.Ìý

Registration is free and is now open.
Presenters of both posters and oral papers must also register for the Symposium.

Across four decades, Dr. Richard Cruess and Dr. Sylvia Cruess have changed the face of medical education through ground-breaking scholarship and visionary leadership. The Cruesses have championed the interdisciplinary field of health sciences education, and the IHSE is pleased to name our symposium in their honour.

Abstract Submissions

The categories for abstracts are ‘Education research’, ‘Education innovations’, and ‘Work in progress’.

Abstract can be submitted in English or in French. The deadline for abstract submissions is January 15, 2025.
