The Founders
As McGill students, Joseph SchullĚýand Anna YangĚýexperienced the life-changing impact of international study firsthand.ĚýTo ensure that today’s McGill students can enjoy the same opportunities that they did, the couple has given back generously to McGill.
Mission
In line with theĚýMcGill Commitment,Ěýour mission is to provide McGill students with transformative international opportunities, preparing them to become 21st century global leaders and innovators. By supporting students’ exposure to diverse ways of living, studying, and working, the McGill International Experience Awards aim to enhance their intercultural competencies and understanding of the world, and to ultimately shape McGill’s global citizens. The awards support highly motivated, talented students, who demonstrate academic excellence; a strong commitment to contribute to society through their studies and career; and a sincere interest in increasing intercultural awareness and interaction.
What are the McGill International Experience Awards?
The McGill International Experience Awards (MIEA) were established in 2013 through a donation by Joseph Schull and Anna Yang. The MIEA includesĚýthe Schull Yang International Experience Awards and other awards supported by other donors and matched by Joseph Schull and Anna Yang.
The MIEA providesĚýstudents with the opportunity to study abroad. Students are able to participate in academic activities that can range in length from one semester to a full academic year, including internships and field research trips, and courses abroad.
The MIEA benefit students in the Faculty of Arts, the Faculty of Law, and all other faculties through the Office of the Deputy Provost (Student Life and Learning). Each faculty administers its own awards; we encourage you to browse through the website and discover the different opportunities available.
