The second phase of the project aims to investigate the effects of different beneficial water management systems (BMPs) in Eastern Canada on greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and the adoption of these BMPs by crop producers in the region. The principal objective is to identify, develop and disseminate information for beneficial water management practices which simultaneously reduce听GHG emissions, increase agricultural productivity and produce environmental co-benefits. The project is driven by Canada鈥檚 commitment to reduce GHG emissions and in order to adapt to global climate change.
Building on previous partnerships with agricultural producers, producers鈥� organizations, and federal and provincial stakeholders, GHG mitigation and adaptation strategies will be developed and implemented to increase water use and fertilizer efficiency, and enhance the profitability of the Canadian food-producing sector. 听We will continue to create strong networking, beneficial water management technology transfers and capacity-building components in order to effectively disseminate the results of the project provincially, regionally, nationally and internationally. A multidisciplinary and collaborative approach will establish links between stakeholders, and build a world-class research and technology transfer network along the knowledge continuum.

- Preliminary GHG emission data tables covering 1990-2016 at the national, provincial and territorial levels by both Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and Canadian Economic Sectors
- Draft chapters of the 2018 National GHG Inventory Report (2018 NIR)听including the Executive Summary, GHG Emission Trends, and Recalculations and Improvements
- Instructions on how to provide feedback are found in each file
In addition, final facility-reported GHG data covering 2004 to 2016 and the related Overview Report from the Greenhouse Gas Reporting Program is now available on听.

Similar to previous years, the final 2018 NIR and associated emissions data will be published by mid-April, 2018.
