Biography: 

Professor Shariff engages in research involving the intersection of education and law and has developed an umbrella research foundation in this area relating to sexual violence, cyberbullying (technology facilitated violence) and areas of gender based and patriarchic forms of violence, intersectionality; human rights (international and national); international law and policy. She has advised the Federal and Provincial governments including Parliamentary Committees on proposed legislation; Federal Senate; Cyberintimidation committees in Quebec Ministry and was invited to a panel on cyber hate at the United Nations Headquarters. She is a James McGill Professor and has published 10 books and numerous academic peer reviewed articles and special issue journals, including in the Education & Law Journal. She has developed courses on Education & Law for Graduate Students in DISE and offered a joint course with the Faculty of Law which was well received. She has brought in over $10 million in research grants over 21 years.
