Biography: 

Ratna Ghosh is Distinguished James McGill Professor Emerita at McGill. She was the first female Dean in the Faculty of Education. A Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada, she is also a Fellow of UNESCO-TWAS (The World Academy of Sciences - for the advancement of science in developing countries). A member of the Order of Canada, and Officer of the Orders of Quebec and Montreal, she has won numerous awards for her leadership and academic work. She is formally part of the mentorship programs of the Royal Society of Canada and the African Academy of Sciences. In her 46-year career at McGill, she has informally mentored numerous students globally and finds doing so very satisfactory. Her areas of expertise in comparative and international education have been equity, diversity, and inclusion; gender, education and development; and more recently, education's role in preventing and combating violent extremism.
