Constantin Polychronakos
Biography:
Pediatric endocrinologist with a research interest in the genetics of diabetes, especially type 1 diabetes. Credited with the first genome-wide association studies for type 1 and type 2 diabetes and one of the first studies of thymic expression of tissue-specific antigens as a mechanism for central immune self-tolerance.
