Please note that this program is a secondary or follow-up program and is only open to students who have completed or are in the process of completing McGill’s MScA Nurse Practitioner Program OR McGill’s Graduate Certificate Nurse Practitioner Program in the relevant specialty.
The Graduate DiplomaÌýin Neonatal Nurse Practitioner focuses on the multifaceted role of the neonatal nurse practitioner in a variety of acute, intermediate and critical care neonatal settings, including advanced assessment, clinical reasoning, diagnosis and other skills to enact the full-legislated scope of practice. Students who complete the Neonatal Nurse practitioner program are eligible to write the Ordre des infimières et infirmiers du Québec’s Neonatal Nurse Practitioner specialty (licensing) examination.

Unique Program Features
Upon successful completion of the Graduate Diploma Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, Graduate Diploma Neonatal Nurse Practitioner, Graduate Diploma Pediatrics Nurse Practitioner or the Graduate Diploma Primary Care Nurse Practitioner programs, the student will be eligible to write the advanced practice licensing exam of the Order of Nurses of Quebec -ÌýOrdre des Infirmières et Infirmiers du QuébecÌý().
University-Level Admission Requirements
ApplicantsÌý°ù±ð±ç³Ü¾±°ù±ð:
- Bachelor’s of NursingÌýor aÌýMaster‘s of NursingÌýdegree comparable to the undergraduate or graduate degree offered at Ï㽶ÊÓƵ, Ingram School of Nursing.
- Minimum cGPAÌýof 3.0 on a scale of 4.0 in nursing studies.
- CurrentÌýOrdre des infirmières et infirmiers du Québec (OIIQ) licenseÌýor equivalency.*
- 12-credits in university-level biological sciences contentÌý(physiology, pathophysiology, pathology and pharmacology), only if the undergraduate nursing degree was obtained in a universityÌýoutsideÌýof Quebec.**
- Work experienceÌýin nursingÌýwithin the last 5 years, refer to the "Required Nursing Experience" section below.
- While a statistics course is not a requirement, it is strongly recommended that you complete a University-levelÌýintroductory statistics courseÌý(3 credits) prior to starting your MSc (A) in Nurse Practitioner degree.
*Nurses licensed outside of Quebec must: 1) have nursing experience within a healthcare context in Canada; 2) have the capacity to be licensed as a nurse in Quebec; 3) be able to understand and communicate in French
**Applicants with an undergraduate nursing degree obtained outside of Quebec may have the option to complete pathophysiology and pharmacology courses at Ï㽶ÊÓƵ to fulfill this requirement.
