The fellowship was established in 2024 through the generous bequest of Dr. Joanne Jepson, MD CM 1959. It aims to support exceptional Canadian Indigenous students pursuing graduate degrees in STEM or Health-related disciplines, as a testament to Dr. Jepson's belief in fairness and equal access to healthcare and education.

Value and Duration
- Master's Non-Thesis - $20,000, non-renewable
- Master's Thesis - $20,000 per year, for up to 2 years
- PhD - $30,000 per year, for up to 3 years

Eligibility
1. Applicants must be registered in or admitted to graduate degree programs in the following faculties/units:
- Agricultural and Environmental Sciences
- Dental Medicine and Oral Health Sciences
- Engineering
- Medicine and Health Sciences
- Science
- Biological and Biomedical Engineering
- Integrated Program in Neuroscience
- Quantitative Life Science
2. Have a CGPA of 3.30/4.00 or higher
3. Master's applicants must be M1, while doctoral applicants must be PhD1 to PhD4 (as reflected in the Minerva transcript)

- Official/certified copies of all post-secondary transcripts

Note: Scholars who accept a fellowship from an agency external to McGill (federal or provincial) will be entitled to one-half the full value of the Joanne Jepson Fellowship up to a maximum of $50,000 total, per year.
