A. Composition:
- FEMR Director (Chair)
- International experts in EM nominated by the Board of Directors.
B. Mandate: The ISAC ensures the (a) FEMR operates in line with Canadian and McGill areas of priority in the biomedical, materials and physical sciences, (b) FEMR is well connected to new and existing initiatives in structural biology in Canada and beyond, and (c) the performance of the principal users is evaluated and constructive criticism is provided to keep the FEMR aligned with its goals and to help researchers to remain at the forefront of their fields. The ISAC will provide performance evaluations by conducting a site visit to the FEMR. The two-day event will run in a symposium format to enable members of the Committee to interact with the principal users of the FEMR and their trainees. On the first day, the symposium will feature oral and poster presentations from principal investigators and trainees highlighting the research performed at the FEMR. The second day is reserved for a closed-door meeting attended by the committee members and the Executive Committee. This meeting will be to provide a detailed analysis of the progress made by the principal users of the infrastructure, the discussion of future directions and the evolving mission and goals of the facility.
C. Meeting frequency: Meets every 3 years at the occasion of a two-day symposium.
