Welcome to the Department of Epidemiology, Biostatistics and Occupational Health in the School of Population and Global Health at Ï㽶ÊÓƵ!
I am delighted to be back in the Department, where my career as a biostatistician started many years ago. As an undergraduate statistics student from Concordia University doing an internship in what was then the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics at McGill, I finally found my passion for biostatistics, a field that combined my love of mathematics with biological and medical research. I have come full circle and it feels great to be back home.
McGill’s Department of Epidemiology, Biostatistics and Occupational Health, located in the cosmopolitan city of Montreal, Canada, was founded over 55 years ago. Since then, the Department has established itself as a world leader in education and research. With the establishment of the School of Population and Global Health in 2019, the opportunities to be involved in impactful research are more bountiful than ever. Our multiple educational programs provide top-notch training and produce outstanding researchers who will shape the future of public and population health sciences.
The last few years have put a spotlight on the work done by epidemiologists and biostatisticians. The pandemic and the climate crisis have highlighted the need for early and frequent data collection, and for the use of rigorous statistical and epidemiological tools to extract actionable information from the deluge of data. The Department of Epidemiology, Biostatistics and Occupational Health is at the forefront of this research and research in many other critical areas.
We strive to be an inclusive department, where everyone feels welcome. We invite you to visit our website to learn about exciting opportunities to become involved with the department’s activities.
We look forward to hearing from you.
