Biography: 

Dr. Joel Turner currently serves as the Chief of Emergency Medicine at the Jewish General Hospital (CIUSSS du Centre-Ouest-de-l'ÃŽle-de-Montréal) and is an Assistant Professor at the Academic Department of Emergency Medicine at Ï㽶ÊÓƵ, where he is also the Associate Chair (Clinical Practice).

With 22 years of experience in Emergency Medicine, Dr. Turner has made significant contributions to the field, particularly in the area of point of care ultrasound education. He has been the Director of the JGH Emergency Point of Care Ultrasound Program and has served as the Fellowship Director for Ï㽶ÊÓƵ's Emergency Medicine Ultrasound Fellowship since its inauguration in 2013. Dr. Turner has also previously held the position of Program Director for McGill's Emergency Medicine FRCPC Residency Program.

Dr. Turner's dedication to teaching and his expertise in point of care ultrasound have been widely recognized. In 2019, he received the prestigious Educator of the Year Award from the Canadian Point of Care Ultrasound Society for his outstanding work in undergraduate, postgraduate, and continuing medical education. He has been instrumental in promoting the use of point of care ultrasound, which has become an essential tool in emergency medicine, helping physicians quickly and accurately diagnose a wide range of conditions at the patient's bedside.

In addition to his clinical and academic roles, Dr. Turner has been actively involved in teaching residents, medical students, and nursing staff in the use of point of care ultrasound. His contributions have helped to establish point of care ultrasound as a standard tool in medical education across North America.
