Congratulations to Chrissy Colizza, 2nd year MA candidate (Supervisor: Dr. Gordon Bloom) for winning the Jean Beliveau Award, the Québec Foundation for Athlete Excellence Leadership Award, and the Dorothy Nichol Scholarship.
The  recognizes outstanding McGill student-athletes who have demonstrated academic achievement and leadership in student and/or community affairs. These Athletic Financial Awards were established in 2016 to honour the memory of the Montréal Canadians captain and inspirational community leader who passed away on December 2nd, 2014.
The is presented to student-athletes demonstrating extraordinary athletic potential and having obtained exceptional sports results, having demonstrated leadership skills, more particularly the ability to lead and motivate others. The criteria include: 1) involvement in the community beyond his/her involvement in his/her sport and; 2) having maintained an academic average of 80% at the secondary level, an R score of 27 at the college level or 3.2 out of 4.3 (or the equivalent) at the university level. Chrissy was presented with this award at the Maison du Loisir et du Sport du Québec on December 6th, 2022.
The is awarded to an individual with high academic standing and contribution to athletes. This scholarship established in 2000 by Dorothy Nichol, B.Sc. (P.E.), who was a student leader, women’s basketball coach from 1949 to 1952, Professor in the Faculty of Education from 1952-1989 and Director of Women’s Athletics at Macdonald College from 1955 to 1970. This award was presented to Chrissy at the Martlet Foundation Luncheon on December 8th, 2022.
