The Computer Assisted Test Scoring Room (EDUC 528A) contains five computers that are loaded with scoring programs. Please check with your instructor or clinic supervisor to ensure that computer-assisted scoring is allowed for your particular assignment. Also note that you, as the student and/or clinician, are ultimately responsible for all scores and interpretation of scores. Should you find an error in any computer scoring or interpretation system, please email both the ecp-amrc.education [at] mcgill.ca (Assessment Materials Resource Centre Coordinator) and Course Instructor immediately detailing the issue. Although rare, errors have been known to happen. When used with appropriate care, professional judgment and supervision, computer-assisted scoring dramatically reduces error and scoring time. The password for all programs if required is McGill.
Best practices and professional ethics are clear that computer generated interpretations and reports should be used with great caution and only in conjunction with professional judgment.
Ěý
Reserving a Computer:
In order to use this room, please send an email request to amrc.ecp [at] mcgill.ca, at least 2 days in advance of your expected pick-up date, to reserve your key/computer. Scoring keys can be borrowed for a maximum of 2 hours. The computer scoring room key must remain in the Education Building. Scoring keys are available for pickup and return at the Education A/V Loans Centre, Room 137. You must complete a sign out/in sheet with the assistance of a staff member.Ěý The computers are loaded with similar programs and up to four people can conduct scoring at the same time.
Important Reminders:
- Please close the door when using computer scoring. The computer screen will show confidential materials and exposure to hallway traffic needs to be minimized.
- Some programs (e.g., BASC-II) save files with confidential information. These computers are considered confidential and technically part of the client file. Do not allow persons to access the Computer Assisted Test Scoring Room or view the computer unless they would otherwise have access to the confidential information.
- MMPI-2, MCMI-II and Conner's-3Ěýrequire a separate, specific USB key to generate reports. This USB key must be requested and reserved in addition to the computer-assisted scoring room key. The AMRC has two (2)ĚýUSB keys that must be signed out individually, and cannot be passed between users.
- You MUST erase these files upon completion to ensure that no one could have access to this information.
- Enter the information using the confidential client code so the client’s anonymity is protected.
- Computers will accept your McGill sign in information to access the programs. Note that there will be a record of who has signed into the computers and when.
In general, the computer-assisted scoring programs are relatively intuitive to operate. A double click on the icon will launch the program. Every program has a help file that will guide and assist you through the process. Several programs have idiosyncracies that can create challenges. Specific instructions for each program are found below.
