Desautel alumna appointed CFO of Northern Sphere Mining
Northern Sphere Mining Corp. has announced that Monique L. Delorme (BCom’88, DPA’91) will be taking over from Robin Pilkey as Chief Financial Officer. Ms. Delorme is already involved with Northern Sphere, having worked with the company as a consultant for the past three years.
Callinex Mines appoints Desautels alumnus as CFO
Vancouver-based mining company Callinex Mines Inc. has announced two new appointments to its c-suite: Jordan Butler has been made VP of Corporate Development, while Matthew Anderson (BCom’05) has been brought onboard as Chief Financial Officer, replacing the departing Rebecca Moriarty.

In some ways, it’s the party of the year. On April 7th, Canada’s biggest fashion names gathered in Toronto for the fourth Canadian Arts and Fashion Awards. The event was heavy on pizzazz, from the pre-event cocktails to the after-dinner party. The guest list was a who’s who of Canada’s glitterati, from Erdem Moralioglu to David Dixon.

Imran Amed honoured with Vanguard Award
“I’m not looking at fashion through a Canadian lens, or even a Western lens, but a global lens,” says Imran Amed (BCom'97). Indeed, he doesn’t even look at it through the eyes of someone who grew up steeped in fashion. Mr. Amed started Business of Fashion as a personal blog while he was working as a management consultant with zero fashion training. Today, his London-based site is the go-to source for news-hungry glitterati.
Desautels alumnus named Exec VP at PNG Gold
West Vancouver-based PNG Gold has announced the appointment of Wesley Marstaller (BCom'05) as Executive Vice President of the corporation. Before coming on board at PNG Gold, Mr. Marstaller served in several capacities at the Macquarie Group, then as COO of the Rennie Group. PNG Gold CEO Greg Clarkes praises Mr. Marstaller, saying that his expertise will help with “building the management group necessary to achieve the Company’s near and long term goals.”
Northleaf appoints Desautels alumnus to its infrastructure team
Northleaf Capital Partners has brought former Goldman Sachs banking analyst Simon Bibeau (BCom'15) on board to perform market research and asset management duties in its infrastructure team. Northleaf Capital is a Canadian private-markets investment firm with over $9 billion in private equity and offices in Toronto, Chicago, Menlo Park and London.

Desautels case competition team lands unexpected prize
An undergraduate team from Desautels came home from a case competition in Portugal with an invite to go back for a month-long project aimed at making the city of Porto more attractive to startups. The prize is doubly sweet, as neither the team nor the officials saw it coming. Team member Aarushi Kumar says that “It was not something we were expecting and it was not something the organizers were expecting to do, either.”
Consulting Magazine names Desautels grad a 2017 rising star
Consulting Magazine has released its 2017 Rising Stars of the Profession 35 Under 35 list, and number 34 on that list is KPMG’s Matthew O’Connell, who is named for Excellence in Financial Services. Mr. O’Connell works in the company’s Forensic Advisory Services Practice, where he deals in anti-corruption, regulatory compliance and conflict minerals. He has taken point on several big-ticket investigations in a multitude of nations.
Desautels scores win at CBS Case Competition 2017
Congratulation to Desautels undergraduates Amir Fawzy Guirguis,  Charles Lavoie-Aubuchon, Maria Power, and Samantha Simpson for winning the 2017 CBS Case Competition in Copenhagen, Denmark, as well as to Amir Fawzy Guirguis, in particular, for securing the award for Best Speaker.
Desautels alumnus to be honoured at SmartCEO Future 50 Gala
SmartCEO magazine has named asset management firm Star Mountain Capital to its 2017 New York Future 50 awards list. Star Mountain founder and CEO Brett Hickey will be presented with the award at the Future 50 Gala on March 16. Mr. Hickey was previously President of Aegis Capital Group and an investment banker at Citigroup.
