Desautels鈥� alum Gabriel Gervais named President and CEO of CF Montr茅al
Gabriel Gervais (MBA鈥�08) has been named the President and CEO of Club de Foot (CF) Montr茅al, the city鈥檚 Major League Soccer team. Between 2002-08, Gervais was a player for the Montr茅al Impact, a predecessor of CF Montr茅al that played in the United Soccer League and later, the North American Soccer League. After his playing career, Gervais completed his MBA at McGill Desautels, and went to become a partner at Deloitte.
Desautels alumnus catalyzes crowdfunded bursaries for Lebanese students impacted by financial crisis
In the summer of 2020, the financial crisis in Lebanon deepened when a major explosion rocked the port of Beirut, causing extensive property damage and loss of life. By that time, Lebanese students studying at McGill were already in a bind 鈥� banking restrictions were limiting the ability of their families to access savings, and provide financial support. Jade Dagher (BSc鈥�89, DipManTour鈥�92, MBA鈥�98) wanted to do something to help.

Nova Steel Award to benefit outstanding MBA students
Scott Jones, MBA鈥�91, headed the rebirth and expansion of his father鈥檚 steel manufacturing company after the company went bankrupt under different owners in 2009. He credits his time at McGill Desautels with equipping him to manage every aspect of the corporation, from marketing and sales to accounting and organizational change.
New Sujata Madan Award recognizes community-minded students
Eleven Desautels alumni have banded together to establish a new student award in honor of Professor of Practice Sujata Madan. Rather than being based on academic merit, the scholarship will be awarded to students who demonstrate outstanding collaboration, empathy, kindness, and respect toward their peers and wider communities.
