International Management Networking Breakfast
On Friday September 21, the IMA was successfully re-launched with the first annual International Management Networking Breakfast. The event was sponsored by RDA Capital and hosted in Bronfman building. With 43 people in attendance including students, alumni, faculty, staff, and the IMA executive team, it was an excellent start to accomplishing the IMA鈥檚 vision to build a strong community within the International Management program.

The right chemistry: workshop brings together grad students from different faculties for one common goal
If women are from Venus and men are from Mars, as asserted in the 1992 best-selling book by American author and relationship counselor John Gray, then it might also hold true that chemists are from Saturn, engineers are from Mercury and business people are from Jupiter, so different are their respective worlds.
My Visit with a Senior Manager at Deloitte
It鈥檚 the morning of the 29th of August and I hastily get ready for my interview with Vince Spadafora (BCom鈥�04), a senior manager at Deloitte. It鈥檚 already 8 am and the possibility that I may be late for my 10:30 am meeting at Place Ville Marie starts to become more and more likely. Why you ask? (or not) I haven鈥檛 decided on what to wear yet! I narrow my options down to two outfits: A black formal suit or a smart t-shirt with jeans. After a while I decide to go with both!

Despite high per-capita spending, health care in Canada consistently underperforms, according to the Commonwealth Fund, which tracks indicators for accessibility, timeliness and outcomes across a number of developed countries. The system that is straining to meet demand today will face an even higher burden in the years ahead, as the population ages.

Talking about the freedom to study what we want to study
Nathalie Cooke, Associate Provost (Academic Staff and Priority Initiatives), has worked with a committee of McGill faculty members and student representatives to organize McGill鈥檚 Academic Freedom Conference being held on the evening of Thursday, Sept. 27, and the afternoon of Friday, Sept. 28. She sat down with The Reporter to discuss the issues the conference will address and outlined how McGill鈥檚 conference is different than others held this year in Canada.
New Administrative Appointments
Christine Tutt, Director of Finance and PlanningChristine Tutt will be joining the Desautels Faculty as Director of Finance and Planning. This is a new role that will combine both strategic and traditional financial planning responsibilities and will contribute to the Faculty鈥檚 strategic development to take it more effectively from vision, to planning and implementation.
Breaking the Taboo and Male Dominance
There will always be women who are not aware of the opportunities available to them. This may be attributed to several factors - they are not actively looking for a new position or, due to their circumstances, they are not receiving relevant information and therefore may be overlooked [鈥 Another reason why women appear to be put off can be attributed to a lack of confidence.
McGill places 18th in QS World University Rankings
香蕉视频 in Montreal, Quebec, has placed among the top 20 universities globally for the sixth consecutive year in the QS World University Rankings. In the 2012 rankings, released today, McGill is listed in 18th place, compared with 17th in 2011 and 19th in 2010.
