Alumna named one of Australian Financial Review’s top 100 women of influence

Sophie Galaise (EMBA’12) recently claimed a coveted spot on the Australian Financial Review’s annual Women of Influence list. Sophie became the Managing Director of the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra in 2016, having previously directed the Queensland Symphony Orchestra in Brisbane, Australia, and the Quebec Symphony Orchestra.

McGill named one of the world’s top 50 universities

McGill ranks among the world’s top 50 universities in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2020. At number 42 on the list, McGill is one of only three Canadian universities to crack the top 50. The annual rankings rate 1,400 universities across 92 countries on the quality of their teaching, research, and international engagement.

We are happy to announce that Dawn McKinnon has agreed to join the team as the Liaison Librarian for Management and Business, alongside Amanda Wheatley.  Dawn and Amanda will be jointly responsible for liaising with all research areas and programs within the Desautels Faculty of Management. IMHL alumni launch project to improve health outcomes for at-risk children

Ahmad Firas Khalid, Padma Venkatasubramanian and Caroline Kisia, all 2014 alumni of McGill’s IMHL program, have teamed up to create Amama (grandmother), a community-based platform that connects grandmothers with vulnerable children to improve children’s physical and mental well-being.

In 2013, the trio won a Canada Grant Challenge to field-test a copper device they created to kill deadly water-borne pathogens.
