Professor Verter elected President-Elect of INFORMS Health Applications Society
At the 2011 Annual Meeting of the Institute of Operations Research and Management Science (INFORMS), Professor Vedat Verter was elected as the next President of the Health Applications Society (HAS). The Society has over 525 members, whose research focus on the use of operations management and operations research methodology for tackling decision problems in the health sector. INFORMS HAS aims to facilitate the development, dissemination, and implementation of knowledge in healthcare operations.
INFORMS is the largest professional society in the world for professionals in the field of business analytics. Professor Verter chaired the inaugural INFORMS Healthcare 2011 conference that was held in Montreal last June. His leading role in the organization of this hugely successful conference seems to have been a key factor in his election as President-Elect by the HAS membership.
