McGill Hot Cities Tour gives students a taste of Asia

For the ninth McGill Hot Cities tour, Desautels Associate Professor brought 40 students to Hong Kong, then Palawan and Manila in the Philippines to observe some of Asia’s strongest growing economies. Students met with thought leaders who are on the front lines of today’s changing global economy, and gained an understanding of the differences that businesses must navigate to operate successfully in Asia — a major indicator being the “sachet economy,” in which people who may not have the money to buy a bottle of shampoo will buy a sachet from a retailer who has broken that bottle into smaller portions.
