McGill Desautels staff lead sustainability charge
In a drive towards environmental responsibility, units within Ï㽶ÊÓƵ's Desautels Faculty of Management have embraced sustainability through the rigorous Sustainable Workplace Certification program hosted by the McGill Office of Sustainability. This initiative, aligned with the Faculty's strategic plan toward sustainability in teaching, research and operations, has seen remarkable success across the university and recognizes five units at the Faculty of Management with certifications, with others steadily progressing.
The Desautels Academic Affairs Office, the Dean’s Office, the Career Management Centre, the Bensadoun School of Retail Management, and the Infrastructure Team join the Bachelor of Commerce Program and Master’s Program Office in receiving certifications ranging from Bronze to Gold. This collaborative challenge fostered a sense of community and promoted eco-conscious practices at the workplace.
From adopting reusable dishware to digitizing documents, teams embraced changes big and small. While positive changes have already transpired, the Faculty’s units are setting their sights on even greater sustainability goals, aiming for Platinum-level certification in the coming year. This initiative doesn't merely shape work environments; it inspires sustainable habits in employees' personal lives, reaffirming their commitment to reducing their environmental footprint.
