McGill BCom team takes third place at regional competition

Published: 20 March 2007

The Desautels Faculty of Management BCom team of Marie-Aude Pigeon, Paul Arlin, Dominique Guay, Vadim Tulchinsky and Jean-Michel Marcotte took third place in the Financial Education Challenge at the 2007 Advancing Canadian Entrepreneurship (ACE) Central Canada Regional Exposition in Ottawa on October 16, 2007. They were awarded for their program of workshops in Montreal-area high schools on financial literacy. Special thanks for team coaching go to Philip McCulley, lecturer in the Dobson Centre for Entrepreneurial Studies.

The Student Entrepreneur Competition included two McGill students — Noah Buckman from Fresh Productions and Daniel Shiner from SoulShine Design.

This event brought together over 200 attendees, including top students, faculty, alumni, business professionals and supporters from across Ontario and Quebec.

Founded in the mid-1980s, ACE is a national, not-for-profit organization that is teaching and igniting young Canadians to create brighter futures for themselves and their communities. Working in partnership with business and higher education, ACE operates a team-based program, Students In Free Enterprise, and an individual-based program, Student Entrepreneur. Both are achieving ACE's vision to advance Canadian entrepreneurship through the direct involvement of university and college students, including those who are entrepreneurial-minded and those who are currently operating full-time businesses.
