Karl Moore on Air Transat: the company needs to learn from its mistakes

Karl Moore
Published: 1 September 2017

Desautels Professor Karl Moore recently appeared on BNN to discuss the hearings into the stranding of two Air Transat flights in Ottawa last month.

During the discussion, Prof. Moore brought up several points, but ultimately said that Air Transat needs to show that it has learned from the event.

He states that the airline should say “We screwed up, we did it wrong. We apologize; we’ve learned from this and we’ll do it better in the future,” and goes on to mention Bill C-49, the Transportation Modernization Act, which includes several protections for airline passengers.

According to Prof. Moore, this is an excellent opportunity for Air Transat to adapt to the bill early, and maybe even exceed its requirements.
