Investors anticipate low-carbon economy

As the renewable energy sector grows in leaps and bounds; pension funds, banks, investment companies, and insurance companies are waking up to the risk of devaluation in fossil fuel investments.

According to Professor Sebastien Betermier, institutional investors must create a long-term plan to achieve a carbon-neutral portfolio to prevent losses in a low-carbon economy down the road. By rewarding companies with decarbonization strategies, investors can not only hedge their bets but also play an active role in tipping the balance away from an environmentally destructive reliance on fossil fuels.
