During a debate hosted in part by the Centre for the Thought of John Paul II in Warsaw, Poland, Desautels Professor explores the military origins of venture capital, as well as the associated National Defence Education Act, which he blames for starting the decline he sees in the quality of university education.

Professor Brenner also holds up the US and Israel as countries that did not put roadblocks in the way of emerging VC funds, and how factors like a stable currency and a well-established investor community contribute to a country’s successful VC environments.
