Hitting the Road for Warren Buffett

Published: 9 December 2016

In 2006, Professor Karl Moore led 40 Desautels Faculty of Management students to Omaha, Nebraska to learn from legendary investment guru, Warren Buffett.

Given the tremendous success of the first visit and the recognized value of experiential learning, the Desautels Faculty of Management has arranged another opportunity for both undergraduate and graduate students to meet the iconic Warren Buffett on January 20, 2017.

Hear from some of this year’s participants about why they’re looking forward to meeting the American investor and philanthropist.

“Warren Buffett is so impressive because he has demonstrated consistency in his investments, which is rarely seen, while also doing a lot of good for society. I’m hoping to learn about what it takes to have a sustained successful career in Finance, while also maintaining your values and being a good person.â€

-Sarah McCullough (MMF Student)

“Many of us going on the trip are very early in our careers and are exploring which path is the best one to choose. I’m hoping Warren will be able to share with us what the emerging areas for investment are, not only from a financial perspective, but also on a personal level so that we can broaden our horizons.â€

- Florian Bundschuh (U3, BCom Finance)

“I know a lot about Warren Buffett. I’ve read all his books, invested in his company, and even attended a shareholder conference to see him. I’m going on this trip without any set expectations because I want to get the most out of it and pay homage to him.â€

- Archie Meng (U3, BCom Economics)
