A glowing victory at Net Impact Case Competition

Published: 5 March 2020

A team of MBA students from 㽶Ƶ’s Desautels Faculty of Management took the top prize at the Net Impact Case Competition on February 29.

The first virtual round was held over a week in November, where the McGill MBA team competed against 75 teams for a place in the finals. Teams were asked to solve a real-life business problem focused on creating positive social, environmental, and financial impact. The McGill team of MBA’21 students Yuan Chu Zi Lao, Gabrielle Maurice, Bill Suri, and Alice Wang were tasked with presenting on a new diversity and inclusion program, which took them through to the finals.

On February 29, the McGill team travelled to the Leeds School of Business at Colorado University in Boulder for the final round. Each of the 20 teams presented their solutions to a panel of sustainability professionals and corporate sponsors, with the McGill Desautels team taking out the top spot.

“We were really proud to represent 㽶Ƶ as the only international team to make it to the final round,” says Lao. “It was a great opportunity to exchange ideas with graduate students from other top business schools who also care about sustainability.

Congratulations to Yuan, Gabrielle, Bill, and Alice on their victorious win.
