François Couillard, MBA'90

François Couillard (MBA'90) past COO of the Canadian Red Cross and VON Canada has founded a management consulting firm to bridge the gap between business and non-profits.

For over 25 years, François Couillard has served organizations who dedicate themselves to improving heath and social wellbeing. His career spans both the business and non-profit sectors, in Canada and abroad. He has worked for two of Canada's leading Health Care corporations, Johnson & Johnson and MDS. He has also led the operations of two of the nation's largest non-profit organizations, The Canadian Red Cross and VON Canada.

He has now created a consulting practice, Strategies and Direction Consultants (). This firm specializes in strategy and business development. It seeks to improve the performance of businesses and non-profits by embedding social innovation in their strategies and operations.

François serves on numerous committees and councils. He was appointed by the Prime Minister of Canada to the Advisory Council on National Security in 2007; until recently he was co-Chair of the Centre for Chronic Disease Prevention and Management of the Conference Board of Canada; he is member of the Comité Canada-Belgique.
