CollegeFashionista: McGill style isn’t going south anytime soon

Published: 20 April 2011

As a former McGill student once said: "The good life is one that's artistically made." William Shatner (BCom'51) may have been talking about his work in film when he put together these words of wisdom, but his message carries a sentiment that is true of all McGill scholars - even the engineer students. For many of us here at Montreal's most renowned university, adding Shatner's mantra into our day-to-day lives starts with how we get dressed in the morning.

As anyone who walks through our campus can see, fashion and style are as big of a part of our college experience as Marx and PBR. McGill houses some of the world's most high-achieving individuals and as a result the campus emanates energy and inspiration all year round. There's always something or someone to look at, and after generations of carrying on this tradition of savvy dressing word has gotten out.

I'd like to personally thank this Fashionista for putting together such an exaggeratedly feminine look that mixes the kitschy with the sophisticated and keeps McGill's standards at an all time high.

In keeping with her look, McGill style is often a mash-up between unique and trendy vintage pieces and high-quality classic staples. Girls wear shocking red lipstick to early morning classes. Guys iron their button-ups before peddling their vintage Raleigh bicycles to school. Even with all the clubs and venues around town, campus is always a scene.
