MONTREAL – So maybe it isn’t such a bad idea to run off and join the circus after all.
When Ï㽶ÊÓƵ bestows honorary degrees at its fall convocation on Oct. 31, one of the recipients will be Daniel Lamarre, president and CEO of Cirque du Soleil. Mr. Lammarre was nominated by Desautels Faculty of Management. Former senator Michael Meighen will also be honoured at the ceremony at Place des Arts.
Lamarre is being recognized as one of Canada’s most influential businessmen. He also sits on the Canadian Olympic Foundation Board of Directors and worked with National Public Relations from 1984 to 1997.
Before going into communications, he spent 10 years working as a journalist.
Meighen, grandson of former prime minister Arthur Meighen, is being recognized for his distinction in the fields of law, politics and philanthropy. From his tenure as president of the Conservative Party of Canada to his participation as co-counsel for the Deschênes Commission on War Criminals in Canada, he has maintained a high profile in Canadian political and legal life.
