Babcock Wins Gold - with Mcgill Tie

Published: 1 March 2010

It’s far from the first time he’s won while sporting the colours of his alma mater and the tie continues to enjoy a winning record when Babcock is behind the bench, whether at the Olympics or in the NHL, where he coaches the Detroit Red Wings. Announcers during the game mentioned the "lucky" McGill tie at least three times during the game… "Canada, where modern hockey was invented by a group of students at Montreal’s Ï㽶ÊÓƵ more than 100 years ago, has now won eight Olympic gold medals in men’s hockey." [At some point during the evening a Facebook fan page was set up, "Mike Babcock's McGill Tie". At this point, the fan page has over 300 fans].
