Is Alumnus William Shatner a Fine Choice for Governor General?

(Editorial in the Waterloo Record): Who should be Canada's next governor general? With Michaëlle Jean soon to step down from the position, a national search has begun to replace her. But who possesses the unique set of prerequisites for a job like none other in the land yet one that is vital to our democracy? While names ranging from Leonard Cohen and Wayne Gretzky to Preston Manning and even William Shatner have been floated, there is, with respect to the others, a superior candidate residing in Waterloo Region: University of Waterloo president David Johnston. In Thursday's Record, columnist James Travers reported that Conservative sources in Ottawa list Johnston as a possible successor to Jean.
