Backpack to Briefcase 2013

The McGill Alumni Career Services is happy to announce the Backpack to Briefcase 2013 Series! Hosted in collaboration with CaPS,  the Backpack to Briefcase series is a life skills workshop and lecture series designed to help prepare students and young grads for “life after McGill.” All events are led by McGill Alumni and feature McGill Alumni from all over the world and in as many industries as possible in order to highlight the strength of the global McGill network.

Join Dan Seligman, (BA’00) – Founder and Creative Director of POP Montreal – as he talks about his professional life after McGill and how he developed POP Montreal from a creative idea to a cultural phenomenon.


Money Rules with Gail Vaz-Oxlade; Co-Sponsored by McGill Young Alumni

TV celebrity Gail Vaz-Oxlade gives first-hand advice on financial issues that young graduates commonly face, such as: managing student loans and consumer debt, planning for professional and personal drawbacks, and making your first investments. Co-sponsored by the McGill Young Alumni and the McGill Bookstore, this event will feature a lecture by Gail and a book-signing opportunity. Bring your favorite book written by Gail or buy ‘’Money Rules’’ at a special discounted price on-site.


Virtual Office Hours

Virtual Office Hours will be an online, “round-table” style discussion that will allow students and recent grads to interact with McGill Alumni from around the world. Participants will be able to chat with, and ask questions relating to the speaker’s career and professional interests. The events will occur in an online meeting room via our Adobe Connect platform and attendees can login from their respective locations as can our speaker. Each Office Hour will last an hour, with actual discussion slated to last about 30 – 45 minutes

Dinner with a Dozen McGillians

Location: Carrefour Sherbrooke Ballroom

Join us for dinner in the ballroom of the Carrefour Sherbrooke Residence. This event will feature alumni working in a variety of industries as table hosts. The dinner is an excellent opportunity to meet and interact with some of McGill’s established alumni. Dinner guests will get a chance to talk about careers and network with fellow students and alumni.
