Abstract
In this talk we will give a high level overview of OR/MS applications in healthcare, and then discuss examples which focus on patient-centered decision making. The examples include vaccine catch-up scheduling decision support tools for children, adolescents, and adults; decision support tools for transplant surgeon and patients regarding when to accept or reject a high-risk organ; prenatal screening considering women’s preferences; and suggestions for physicians regarding who should be monitored by cEEG and for how long to detect seizures in the brain. The contents of the talk are based on collaborations with various faculty, students, and partners from organizations including the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.
