This October, we welcomed alumni from around the world back to campus to celebrate Homecoming 2024—and what a success it was!
Homecoming is always a great time to reminisce, expand your network, and reengage with your alma mater, and it was great to see some familiar faces back in town! Between October 24 and 26, the campus came alive as McGill Desautels alumni and friends converged for a special celebration filled with stories, memories, and plenty of laughs.
Wednesday evening saw the launch of a new virtual learning opportunity for alumni, the Ethics and Equity in the Workplace program presented by the Laidley Centre for Business Ethics and Equity. Over the course of five one-hour sessions, participants will engage with important issues related to workplace equity and ethics while learning from McGill’s foremost thought leaders in business ethics and equity. We were thrilled to see alumni from around the world tune in and engage in conversation at this first session, hosted by Professor Lindsay Holmgren.
On Thursday, members of the BCom’74 and MBA’74 classes gathered for a champagne toast with Dean Yolande E. Chan before heading over to the annual Golden Jubilee to celebrate their 50th anniversary alongside members of the BCom’54 class. Other classes including BCom ‘74, ‘89, ‘94 and MBA ‘74, ‘84 and ‘04 held class dinners throughout the weekend, welcoming back alumni from across Canada and around the globe, including the United States, England and Japan.
Saturday’s events were just as dynamic, as we hosted over 50 attendees for tours of our buildings, starting with a quick presentation by Dobson Centre for Entrepreneurship Associate Director, Kika Armata, in the Centre's new home in the Bronfman Building, and ending in the Armstrong Building with a presentation from Niels Billou, senior faculty lecturer and the director of McGill Desautels Case program. Alongside him, current students shared their experience visiting and competing at schools like the University of Southern California and the University of British Columbia, and the impact this program has had on their time at McGill Desautels and will continue to have as they move on to become young professionals.
