Research Project:

I will be working on a rotating gliding arc at low power and low pressure sustained by a power supply. The set up involves a vortex gas flow and a magnetic field in the axial direction, with a conical cathode inserted inside a grounded cylindrical anode. My goal will be to play around with these components to achieve the best efficiency for gas conversion. In order to see and understand the arc, high speed imaging will be used along with electrical diagnostic methods. Eventually, the idea would be to convert green house gases into useful synthetic gases.
