McGill launches new program in legal translation
Ï㽶ÊÓƵ’s new Graduate Certificate in Legal Translation is intended to support current or aspiring professionals and paraprofessionals whose work does or may consist in the bi-or multi-lingual drafting and translation of legal documents used in public, private and parapublic organizations. By providing contextualized guided learning opportunities in multilingual legal (co)writing and translation, students are initiated into multicultural and multilingual environments both domestic and international where clarity in legal documentation no matter what languages are used is paramount to organizational effectiveness and social cohesion.
The program will be offered starting in the 2017 Fall term. Applications are currently being accepted. Candidates must have an undergraduate degree from an approved university with a minimum cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 3.0 over 4.0. In addition, applicants must pass a written entrance examination in either English or French.
