Composite materials research at Ï㽶ÊÓƵ began in 1989 with the hiring of Larry Lessard.Ìý The Structures and Composites Laboratory began soon after with the first graduate student, Mahmood Shokrieh in 1990.ÌýÌýIn 2002, Pascal Hubert joined to expand the group expertise to composites processing. Over the years, the lab has expanded its space, moving out of the MacDonald Engineering building and into larger labs in the Frank Dawson Adams Building.Ìý The McGill Structures and Composites Laboratory has become a renowned and respected research group worldwide through the work and publications of its members and alumni.Ìý Located in the heart of downtown Montreal, the group has a large network of partners and collaborators from industry, government research centers, colleges and academia.
