Direct approval from the receiving institution must be received prior to shipping animals.

To avoid delays, please make sure all the legal and Material Transfer Agreement requirements have been settled prior to submitting your request.

  • Please identify cages to be shipped as soon as possible as animals must be examined prior to shipment.

  • Prepare the cages exactly as they are to be shipped.Ìý

  • Males and females must be shipped separately. Gestating animals cannot be shipped.

  • If animals being exported are to be used as breeders, ideally select animals 4-8 weeks of age.

  • Avoid selecting animals under 4 weeks of age for shipment.

Export fees must be paid in full prior to shipment of animals. These fees include administrative charges, packing of animals, veterinary exams, and CFIA certificates, when required.
