A McGill-born event platform startup has found a way to weather the COVID-19 pandemic and raise venture financing in hopes of returning to in-person events in 2021. Co-founded by Desautels alumnus Marc-Antoine Bonin (BCom’19) and Emeric NoĂ«l,ĚýPlanned offers a unique tool for event planners to connect with a curated list of venues and suppliers in one place. This week, Planned announced that it had raised $4.7 million in venture financing led by Inovia Capital, with participation from Telegraph Hill Capital and N49P, bringing its total capital raised to $7 million.

Alumna Karen Hersh (BCom’88) has been appointed as CFO of Patriot One Technologies. Hersh brings to the role more than 20 years’ experience in finance including several senior leadership roles, most recently serving as CFO for a global private equity company focused on cybersecurity technologies.

Erin Janna (BCom'19, GCPA'20), student of the Graduate Certificate in the Professional Accounting (GCPA) program, has been selected among her graduating class as this year’s recipient of the C. Douglas Mellor Prize for academic excellence.
The prize, which is valued at $3,000, is named after Douglas Mellor, the first Executive Director of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Quebec, now the Ordre des comptables agrĂ©es du QuĂ©bec, and is awarded each year to honour Mellor’s enduring contributions to both Ď㽶ĘÓƵ and his profession.
