Along Highway 401 and over the Ontario border, Tyler Maxey and some of his MBA classmates at Ï㽶ÊÓƵ's Desautels Faculty of Management in Montreal are also learning by doing. Their modus operandi: investing other people's money. Since 2008, students have been running a registered fund management firm called Desautels Capital Management that has about $3 million in assets.

Most professors exhaust themselves trying to get their students off of social media. Andy Nulman (BCom'83), however, has designed his entire class around being on it.

In what’s believed to be the first syllabus of its kind, Ï㽶ÊÓƵ’s marketing and society class uses YouTube’s Creator Playbook as its sole course book. And, in lieu of a final exam, students will be evaluated on their launch of a unique channel on the video-sharing site.

Türk Telekom, the leading communications and convergence technology company in Turkey, announces the restructuring of its leadership by combining the roles of the Group CEO and the General Manager into a single CEO position. Rami Aslan (BCom'94, MBA'97), who has been serving on the board of Türk Telekom and as CEO of Oger Telecom, is appointed as CEO of Türk Telekom as of December 10, 2013. In addition to his current roles, he will be appointed as a member of Türk Telekom Executive Committee and member of the boards of Avea and TTNet.

Montreal’s celebrated Just for Laughs festival is arguably the world’s premier showcase for international comedy.

Founded in 1983, the annual summer festival attracts over two million people, and has booked thousands upon thousands of comics, pantomimes, and acrobatic acts over the decades.

Cataract Surgery
The Jewish General Hospital is hoping to reduce wait times for cataract surgery by better managing its resources. It recently conducted an analysis of its operations using an approach developed by the Harvard Business School and found that it could make improvements that would increase its capacity for cataract surgery by as much as 50 per cent.

It took him 13 years, but former Canadiens forward Mathieu Darche (BCom'00) is finally putting his Ï㽶ÊÓƵ international business degree to great use.
For the past three weeks, Darche has been settling in as director of business development and public relations for Lachine-headquartered Delmar International Inc., a global giant in freight forwarding and customs brokerage.
His appointment to the newly created position will be announced on Tuesday via Delmar press release.
