Ï㽶ÊÓƵ has chosen a new name that will take its ³¾±ð²Ô’s varsity teams into the University’s third century. The name — chosen with the aim of paying homage to Athletics and Recreation’s tradition and history while simultaneously uniting our community — is the McGill Redbirds.

McGill alumni and long-time Athletics benefactorsÌýSheryl KerrÌý(BCom'67) andÌýDavid KerrÌý(BSc'65) are chalking up another important "assist" for Team McGill with a $3.5-million gift to create the Kerr Family Women in Sport program. This "WIS" initiative aims to advance the role of women as athletes, coaches and decision-makers by increasing the number of full-time female coaches and helping female athletes become future leaders.

It is with sadness that we note the passing of Bryan Murray, DipEd(PE)'64, recipient of the 2016 Macdonald Distinguished Alumni Award.

"A native of Shawville, Que., Murray was a student-athlete at Ï㽶ÊÓƵ's Macdonald College campus in the 1960s and went on to develop his coaching and administrative skills by guiding the Macdonald Aggies football team and the Macdonald Clansmen hockey squad while serving four years as director of athletics."

We are excited to announce the opening this summer of the Mac Paddle Shack. ÌýOperated by Athletics and Recreation and servicing the McGill community as well as John Abbott, Ste-Anne-de-Bellevue and the general public, the Mac Paddle Shack will offer hourly kayak, stand up paddle board (SUP) and canoe rentals, paddling instruction and paddle board yoga classes.
