Significant changes to Central Interlibrary Loan Service (ILL) effective May 24

On May 24, Colombo, the new interlibrary loan (ILL) system, will be launched at the McGill Library, and simultaneously at 20 Quebec university libraries located in seven institutions.

What is ? Colombo is a web-based interlibrary loan system that allows all McGill students, faculty and staff to:

  • Search Quebec or Canadian university library catalogues simultaneously
  • Request items on interlibrary loan online
  • Track the progress of your interlibrary loan requests


McGill students and faculty must sign in to Colombo to submit ILL requests.

Colombo Information Sessions will be provided to McGill faculty and students.

Dates: May 16, 17, 18
Time: 11:00-12:00
Location: , McLennan Library Building (main floor)

Individual assistance will also be provided at Colombo All Day Drop-in for McGill Professors and Students.

Dates: May 24-June 28
Time: Monday-Friday, 9:00-17:00 (any time during these hours)
Location: Central ILL office, McLennan Library Building, main floor (M1-55C), west of elevators

Please note: There is no change in the CISTI Source service.
Until May 24, there is no change in the mechanism of submitting ILL requests.
Library clients in faculties and departments using ILL borrowing services of the are not affected by the transition to Colombo at this time.
